Masseria Moroseta

A tranquil moment spent in the shade of olive trees, beautiful blue seas and sandy beaches, with delicious food made from fresh, local ingredients - this is what Masseria Moroseta offers.

Set in the beautiful Italian town of Ostuni in the Puglia region, Masseria Moroseta is a countryside retreat that will awaken the spirits of even the weariest traveller.

Masseria Moroseta

The town of Ostuni, located in Southern Italy, is also referred to as ‘White City’ for its whitewashed structures. The design of Masseria Moroseta as a gorgeous farmhouse keeps with this setting. It is a contemporary take on the traditional farmhouses that dotted Puglia in the past.

Masseria Moroseta

The idea of creating a modern farmhouse for guests to experience the Italian countryside came to owner Carlo Lanzini while travelling through Puglia. To make his vision come true, he approached his long time friend and designer Andrew Trotter. Trotter spent a long time learning about local culture, history and architecture in Puglia to design a property that stayed true to its roots. This led to the classic Italian design feature - the courtyard, being central to the structure. The rooms and suites have private gardens and terraces for guests to enjoy the beautiful weather and relax in complete privacy.

The structure was built by skilled local builders and uses materials typical to the region like Chianca di Trani flooring. Landscaping around the farmhouse continues this Mediterranean style, and the design comes together to set the scene for the perfect Italian country retreat. Rustic and salvaged materials and furniture complement the simplicity of this structure. Weathered wood and metal furniture combine with natural stone here. The materials used bring out the beauty of the design style while being sustainable. And set against the natural views of the expansive property, the result is charming.

At Masseria, guests get to experience and appreciate natural farmhouse living to its fullest. A pool set amidst the trees, a Mediterranean cooking course and yoga classes offer a serene and slow way of living. Visitors also get to tour their farm and watch the harvest and production of organic olive oil. Along with the olive oil, organic cosmetics and artisan ceramics are also made at Masseria Moroseta. Guests can purchase these to take home and extend their experience of natural living.

The farm at Masseria produces a variety of fresh produce, which turns into a swoon worthy feast in the hands of their brilliant chef, Giorgia Goggi. Goggi’s exceptional food is yet another draw to this elegant farmhouse. In her hands, local ingredients and traditional Italian cuisine take on worldly influences. But food is more than about the flavour here.

Guests get to fraternize and enjoy the fare in a familial ambience at the communal dining table. And this social way of living is what keeps the guests coming back. Because at the end of the stay at Masseria Moroseta, guests leave with not just the memories of amazing design and food. Masseria Moroseta is about the journey - an experience of community and companionship.
