Inhabits Hotels
The Inhabit hotel in Paddington, London, is not a typical hotel by any measure. Here, you’d be hard pressed to find businessmen in suits, or even the regular crowd you’d see at most hotels. Instead, you’re more likely to run into health and wellness enthusiasts - the kind you’d find at a wellness retreat.
The Inhabit Hotel is billed as an urban wellness boutique hotel. The hotel brand aims to strike a balance between traditional city hotels and exotic wellness retreats. It brings the best of both worlds - a comfortable stay in the city of London, with a focus on sustainability, and mental and physical wellness. Inhabit offers its guests not just a comfortable place to stay, but a myriad of ways to energize and restore their body and mind.
Housed across six renovated Georgian townhouses, the interior design translates Inhabit Hotels’ mantra into physical form. The Scandinavian British style of the design is calming and comfortable. Natural materials like wood and stone are used throughout the hotel, while the color scheme leans towards predominantly muted shades. The redesigned townhouses accommodate 88 rooms, as well as a restaurant, pantry, library, gym and workspaces. Natural light and plants play a key role in the interiors, which were designed by London based designer Caitlin Henderson. The hotel is designed with classic furniture and decor from the likes of Hans Wegner and Gubi, along with upcycled and handmade pieces from Goldfinger and Aerende.
The rooms at Inhabit are compact and furnished with care. Under-bed storage and open wardrobes provide adequate storage space while retaining a clean look. Guests can connect with nature and relax with aromatherapy diffusers, fragrances and rain showers. All the rooms are also fitted out with VOC-free mattresses from Casper, toiletries from clean skincare brand REN, and mobile phone lock boxes. The design uses soft textures and shades of blue, gray and white to give the rooms a dreamy ambience that promotes restful sleep.
The kitchen at Inhabit is bright and cheerful, with nutritious food created by health and wellness brand Yeotown. The space is designed less like a restaurant and more like a communal kitchen. At the kitchen, Yeotown offers a diverse menu of nourishing meals and drinks with lots of plant based options. In an effort to reduce food wastage, Inhabit also offers meals at reduced rates during their happy hour. Those looking for some quiet would find it in the hotel’s library. Sitting in the cozy space with fascinating artworks and books on a wide range of topics, it is easy to lose track of time.
Yoga and meditation classes, as well as nature walks are offered to guests at the hotel. A meditation pod and a gym equipped with a Peloton are also provided, giving guests even more options. Inhabit also takes its commitment to eco consciousness seriously. The hotel and restaurant refrain from using single-use plastics in all their products and services. Filtered water systems from Belu help guests refill their bottles and cut down on plastic usage. Products from local and sustainable brands are also made available to purchase through Inhabit’s retail service.
At Inhabit, guests get to experience an eco-friendly, wellness focused way to travel. Away from the constant entanglement with technology, jam packed schedules and the worries of daily life, Inhabit is a mindful urban retreat for the body and soul.
