Foresta Timber
Seldom do you find brands that meld eco-consciousness with beautiful, painstakingly designed and crafted products centered around quality and the people who will use them in the years to come. Meet Foresta.
Foresta began as a way to lead sustainably grown timber into the hands of creators and manufacturers. Named after the practice of afforestation, Foresta sources hardwood that is ICF certified from sustainably managed plantations in Honduras. These plantations, maintained by local communities, grow hardwoods like teak and mahogany organically from the highest quality seeds. By sourcing wood from these plantations and by paying fair wages, Foresta ensures that architects, product manufacturers and even builders from the naval industry have easy access to high quality hardwood that is carefully sourced with minimal impact on the environment and the indigenous communities that produce them.
From its core of timber sourcing, Foresta grew into a brand with environmentally conscious designs, thanks to a chance collaboration with Berlin based designer Rebecca Goddard. Goddard and Foresta decided to come up with a product line that showcased the quality of the wood while providing additional opportunities to Honduran craftsmen, and this led to the creation of “Collection One” by Foresta. The collection consists of six home objects that pay tribute to the gorgeous natural aesthetic of Foresta’s hardwood. Simplistic designs with a soft aesthetic highlight this master ingredient while creating long lasting objects that add beauty to any space.
The Arco candle holder, true to its name, is a simple wooden arc. Made of teak, the candle holder balanced on its vertex resembles the branches of a menorah, while bringing a sculptural grandeur into various settings. The Forma Plinth Table is a three sided table with a small, stepped interior detail that provides a pedestal to showcase treasured objects. The Copan Side Table and Aldea Tray appear as sister objects, with strong similarities yet distinct personalities. The Copan Table is a sturdy table in teak with a circular inset top and 3 large scaled legs that makes for a wonderful side table or stool, with the natural grains of the teak wood adding a subtle visual quality to the design.
The Aldea tray features the circular top of the Copan table with a deeper inset, supported by 3 radial wooden slats below. With a rustic charm, the Aldea tray effortlessly turns from a surface to display food in the kitchen to a graceful accessory for breakfast in bed. The Tez lounge table can also function as a bench, with a soft silhouette that is equally comfortable and striking in its beauty. The Tallo wardrobe is a T-shaped frame that is attached to walls using pegs. The thin straight lines provide a space to hang clothes while displaying an architectural beauty that is equal parts functional and sculptural. These products by Foresta are unadorned and uncomplicated, and made to display the beauty of the materials used in their construction and the craftsmanship that went into their making.
Foresta functions as an intermediary in our journey to connect with nature. With more conscious products in its future, Foresta's works bring you companions to make your already mindful life more beautiful.
