Reissued designs by &Tradition offer a window into some exceptional works by Danish designers like Arne Jacobsen and Verner Panton, including pieces which were often overshadowed by their more famous designs. Using the designers’ original sketches, the brand recreates these pieces, all the while showing how great design never dies. An excellent example of this is the Mayor Sofa.

Originally designed by Arne Jacobsen and Flemming Lassen in 1939 for a town hall, the sofa was made in solid oak and upholstered in leather. The town hall, which was proposed to include a library and cinema as well, needed the seating to provide comfort and quality. The reissued design for this sofa, which uses solid oak and beech wood, with a choice of tufted fabric or leather upholstery, was an instant success due to its comfortable design. The Mayor sofa, despite being from another era, also fits beautifully into the modern home, bringing with its cocoon like structure a sense of warmth and comfort. 

&Tradition’s catalogue of products also include designs by renowned contemporary artists and designers like Jaime Hayon, and Anderssen & Voll.

The brand’s collaboration with Jaime Hayon led to a series of modern furniture pieces that are playful and sophisticated. The Catch chair, which is a product of this collaborative effort, is based on the shape of a person with open arms. The chair gives the sense that it’ll catch you - making it perfect to fall into after a long day.

The palette lounge table, another one of Hayon’s designs, is inspired by hanging mobiles. Various shapes in a range of colors, sizes and materials for multiple levels of a table, are held together by a metallic frame. The result is a unique, colorful and highly practical design.
